I was watching a talk by Trevor Noah and Simon Sinek where they were discussing friendships. And how it's important to know how to be a friend as well. I feel like I can be a good friend and have been longing for it. But moving to a new country and adulting is more difficult to create that deep connection. I guess luck plays a huge role.
I'd say luck and putting yourself out there! I've made a good number of good friends from Facebook groups here in Vietnam. I was definitely lucky. But I wouldn't have made any of those friends if I haven't been commenting on strangers' posts offering myself up for coffee. Friendship is a number's game I find.
I cant live without friendships. I value every friend that I have and I always said to myself I cant destroy a long term and close friendship. Till now I consider friendship as valuable as partner relationship and family relationship
Hi Giang, thanks for sharing! One of the things my boss says (and I agree with) is you can be single for the rest of your life, but you can't be friendless. So I very much get where you're coming from. Where we differ though is when you say you won't destroy a long-term and close friendship. For me it always depends on the present. If that long-term friend has changed in such a way as to make us incompatible, or we have drifted, I will have no problem quietly walking away and investing in newer friendships that are more fulfilling.
