Last week’s post was a rather serious one, so let’s tackle something light this week: moisturising.
First, a few extremely pertinent observations about moisturising:
It’s dull.
It’s a slipping hazard.
It’s rather easy to forget.
It’s expensive.
As you can see, I’m not a fan. Yet moisturising is crucially important to our skin health, not to mention beauty (and that goes for you too, gentlemen).
No one wants dry, sagging skin at 40. No one wants hands that are peeling off, cracked heels. None of those premature wrinkles.
The one and only body part I moisturise consistently is my face. I use a grand total of two face products: a suncream and a baby cream (pictured below). I started using both as a teen and will probably stick with them until I’m too old to be bothered.
But other than my face, it’s a daily struggle. For someone with dry skin like myself, I moisturise my body way too little. I always have a bottle of body lotion and/or cream to hand after my shower, but rarely do I reach out and pump out that moisturising goodness.
And I don’t know why that is. Despite the hazardous nature of the activity (ever moisturised the sole of your feet?), it’s actually very simple and not at all time-consuming. Unless you’re extraordinarily thorough, it’s unlikely to take more than five (for me not even two) minutes to lotion up.
So really, I don’t know what the problem is except that I’m simply Too Lazy to Lotion (I should trademark that as a brand).
Buying cream/lotion that smells particularly nice helps a bit, but after a while even the sweet fragrance of Oriental Princess Frangipani isn’t enough to get my hand pumping.
Seriously, I know not what to do with this affliction of mine.
How about you? Are you Too Lazy to Lotion? What’s your secret to winning your daily battle to moisturise?
I’m all ears.
Leave a comment, reply to this email, share it with your fellow moisturising comrades.
Until next Friday… Stay cool, stay safe, stay thoughtful,
Val
Also Too Lazy to Lotion :) You should definitely trademark that one!
